The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010

The newly passed bill, The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 will increase the access of healthy, nutritional foods to students across the country.

This is a step in the right direction.  Healthier foods—more fruits, more vegetables, and less sugar—will mean less calories and more antioxidants.  This is especially important for students—many of whom don’t get well balanced meals at home—who come from low income homes.

Thumbs go way up for the passage of this bill.  We’d really be cooking with smoke if we could get to work on the issue of antibiotics and additives in the food—perhaps in due time.
