A Legal Lesson About Privacy

In In the News on October 2, 2010 at 1:41 pm

Yesterday, I wrote about the situation involving Rutgers University freshman Tyler Clementi.  Clementi took his own life after learning that he had been taped, by his roommate, having a sexual encounter with a man.

I wondered if the students who did the crime would spend any time–in jail.  Well, based on the law, there is a good chance that they will be criminally charged for invading Clementi’s privacy and/or for the outcome (suicide) that occurred due to that invasion of privacy.

The following article explains the potential legal ramifications:  http://www.fanhouse.com/2010/10/01/rutgers-suicide-raises-difficult-legal-questions/?icid=main%7Cmain%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk3%7C174827
